Cotton is a natural fiber that comes from the seedpod of the cotton plant and is used to make many fabric types at every price point. The fiber is hollow in the center and under the microscope resembles a twisted ribbon. A plain weave produces fabrics like gingham, percale, chambray and broadcloth.
Patola is a double ikat woven sari, usually made from silk. Patola-weaving is a closely guarded family tradition .To create a patola sari, both the warp and weft threads are wrapped to resist the dye according to the desired pattern of the final woven fabric. This tying is repeated for each color that is to be included in the finished cloth. The technique of dyeing the warp and weft before weaving is called double ikat.
This saree is green in colour which is woven patola on cotton fabric. Full saree is green in colour on which orange and white floral lines are woven at distances.
Pallu of this saree has a mustard and black base which is woven with multi colour threads in distinct designs.
